Robert W. Roth
President & CEO
Bob represents the second generation of leadership at RoMan. He is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of mid- and long-range strategies as well as oversight of the company’s financial operations. Since joining the company in 1987, he has held various positions including executive stints in purchasing, finance and administration. Prior to joining RoMan, he was a buyer for General Motors. As an industry leader, he presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the American Welding Society, as well as on the Board of Directors of Grand Transformer Incorporated. He also serves on the Spectrum Health System Board and on the United Bank of Michigan’s Board.
His past board affiliations include chairmanships of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, Grand Rapids Community Foundation and Priority Health boards. He is also a recipient of the Kettering University Engineering Achievement Award and the John G. Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Award. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree from General Motors Institute.
Chief Operating Officer
Nelson is responsible for the corporate oversight of RoMan’s engineering, manufacturing, marketing, sales, human resources, and purchasing functions. Prior to this position, he was the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Before joining RoMan, Nelson held executive positions in finance, marketing and business management roles in various companies including: Windquest Companies, Kaydon Corporation, Ridgeview Industries
and Deloitte Touche.
He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce as Vice Chairperson, for Budget & Finance, on the Finance Committee of Holland Home, and previously chaired the Board of Directors of the West Michigan Alzheimer’s Association. Sanchez is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He holds Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Aquinas College. He is also a graduate of the Varnum Exceptional Leadership Program and the Disney Institute of Leadership.
Resistance Welding Products
An industry veteran, Don is responsible for overseeing sales of RoMan’s Automotive Resistance Welding products. During his 20-plus year career with the company he has held positions as, sales representative, application engineer, and COO of one of RoMan’s divisions. Prior to joining RoMan, he held technical, product development, sales, and sales management positions with various resistance welding companies including: Nortronic Co., Pertron Controls Corp., and Savair Inc.
Don serves as Vice Chair of the Education Committee of the RWMA, Resistance Welding Manufacturing Alliance and PEMCO Committee member of The American Welding Society. Don is a lifetime member of the American Welding Society. He served as a member of its directorate and Chairman of its Detroit Section. He continues to advance the merits of the welding industry through his serving on the Advisory Board for welding programs at Grand Rapids and Monroe Community Colleges, and the W.D. Ford Tech High School. He is a recipient of the American Welding Society’s National Meritorious, District Meritorious and Lifetime Counselor Awards. Don is a graduate of the Industrial Electronics Technician program of RETS Electronic Schools Detroit, MI.
Glass and Furnace
With more than 35 years at RoMan, Rob presently heads the glass and furnace markets. Prior to assuming his present role in 2008, Rob held a variety of positions at RoMan including that of manufacturing manager, internal sales manager and other sales management positions. An AWS and RWMA member for over 30 years, Rob serves on the Glass Manufacturers Industry Council Board and is a member of the Family Business Alliance.
Mark began his career at RoMan as an application and design engineer in 1992. Today, he is responsible for overseeing the development of the company’s new products and special applications. He is also part of the senior management corporate strategic planning group. Prior to joining RoMan, he held engineering, production and management positions with TransPower, and Goodrich Inc.
Mark currently serves as Chair and Instructor of the American Welding Society Resistance Welding School and on the AWS Standards Committee for ISO 10676, 22829. He served as chairman of the committee that published the American Welding Society Welding Handbook. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and a Registered Professional Engineer. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
Holly is responsible for providing operational direction to the company’s accounting, financial, tax, payroll, budgeting and IT functions. She also establishes and coordinates financial responsibilities and procedures among relevant divisions and departments. Before joining RoMan, she spent over 10 years in both public accounting, as an auditor; and private industry, as a financial controller.
Holly holds a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Grand Valley State University, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Michigan.
Director of Manufacturing Operations
Chad is responsible for all of RoMan’s manufacturing operations. This includes both the day-to-day overseeing of plant operations and the continuous development and improvement of manufacturing systems and processes to ensure the deliverability of high-quality products
Prior to his present position, he spent 11 years at RoMan Engineering Services, providing weld consulting services and program launch support at Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler.
Chad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering from Ferris State University.
A RoMan Company
As President of IRCO Automation, a leading manufacturer of weld positioning and integrated welding systems for the oil & gas, transportation, fabricated metal products and energy industries, Hubert is responsible for overseeing all strategic and operational facets of the company. He joined IRCO in 2006, becoming Vice President and General Manager soon after. He was named to his present position in 2008. For 20 years prior to joining IRCO, Hubert held executive management positions in various construction and industrial companies including Wm. Bethlehem Trenching, United Rentals and RSC Equipment Rental.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, he serves as President of the CRHL—a four division, 30 team, Canadian hockey league.
Kurt A. Hofman

Kurt is part of the second generation of leadership at RoMan. He is responsible for overseeing the strategic development and execution of all sales programs for IRCO automation, a leading manufacturer of weld positioning and integrated welding systems for the transportation, oil & gas, fabricated metal products and energy industries. Since joining the company in 1986 he has held various executive positions including stints in engineering, sales and as CEO of various RoMan divisions.
Kurt presently serves as Advisory Board Member—Ferris State University—Welding Engineering Technology. In addition, he has served the industry in various roles including those of Chairman of the Western Michigan Section of the American Welding Society and member of the Board of Directors of the RWMA—Resistance Welding Manufacturing Alliance where he was chair of various committees. For over ten years he served as a Welding School Instructor for the RWMA Resistance Welding School and a Welding Seminar Instructor for the Detroit Section of the American Welding Society. Known both as an industry leader and for his expertise in the resistance welding field, Kurt is a sought after conference speaker on the subject. Kurt holds an Associate degree in Applied Science Welding Technology from Ferris State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering Technology from Arizona State University.
